Three Malaysian celebrities will provide statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Thursday (Feb 6) to assist in the investigation concerning a syndicate of financial consultancy firms. MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said they would appear at 10am at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya. He emphasized that this does not mean they are suspects, but were called to record their statements to complete the investigation papers. This follows the MACC's successful busting of corruption and money laundering activities involving financial consulting companies and bank officers at several financial institutions in January. This was the result of the arrest of 12 individuals in raids conducted by the MACC's Anti-Money Laundering Division (AML) in cooperation with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) at 24 locations through Ops Sky.
