Just a month ago, Malaysian squash player Sivasangari Subramaniam achieved one of her greatest milestones by winning the 1st PSA World Tour Gold-Level title.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better than that, there’s more…
She suffered injuries to her head, spine, and neck, and because of that, the doctors feared she might never walk again, even with surgery. “I could only manage light activities because my neck movements were limited back then. The major breakthrough came after my summer training last year. Following the training, I felt more confident in the tournaments I participated in and felt like I was getting back to my usual self before the accident.”Subramaniam achieved a significant milestone by becoming the 1st Malaysian squash player since the iconic Nicol David, to clinch victory in a Gold-level event on the PSA World Tour.
“This win means the world to me. Nicol’s a total legend in squash and a big deal in Malaysia’s sports scene. Taking home this victory gives me a huge confidence boost, making me even more sure that I can pull off results like this,” said Sivasangari.
