THE low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has now become a tropical depression, the state-run weather bureau said on Saturday.

As of 3:00 a.m., it was seen some 2,510 kilometers east of Mindanao and is inside an inter-tropical convergence zone , the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration said.'As of now, this tropical depression is weak and is possible to grow stronger as a tropical storm in the next few days while it is in the middle of the sea,' Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

On Sunday, the tropical depression will move north-northwest and is expected to enter Guam from Sunday to Wednesday.Pagasa said that the isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms experienced across the country is due to the ITCZ and not because of the tropical depression.Pagasa said the rainy season will likely occur by the end of May.
