(UPDATE) AN intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) where a low pressure area (LPA) is embedded is affecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country although it is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said on Friday.
As a result, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the country can expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, especially in Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soccsksargen and BARMM over the next 24 hours.Isolated downpours or thunderstorms will be likely over Metro Manila and the rest of the country also because of the ITCZ.
The ITCZ, Pagasa specialist Patrick del Mundo said, is an imaginary line where the air from the southern and northern hemispheres meet.He also said the LPA was last spotted some 2,235 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao.'Embedded along the ITCZ, it is likely to enter PAR as a tropical storm but it may take place late next week,' del Mundo added.He said Pagasa had predicted the LPA to be a weak one and will not directly affect the country.
