THE low pressure area (LPA) off Cagayan has dissipated and only the northeast monsoon locally known as 'amihan' and localized thunderstorms are affecting the country.

'There is also no LPA inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility that is monitored at least until over the weekend,' weather forecaster Patrick del Mundo of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. The state-run weather agency said Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and Ifugao will experience overcast skies with rains caused by amihan.

'Flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains are possible in these areas,' Del Mundo said. The same weather system is also affecting the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains may prevail.Pagasa said Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao will likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms.
