- Two people have been killed in the ongoing taxi strike in Cape Town.

Smith said that in incidents across the city, four private vehicles and two municipal trucks had been torched on Monday morning, along with four Golden Arrow buses. He added that several road closures are in place, including on the N2 inbound at the R300; Jakes Gerwel Drive, between Turfhall and Oliver Tambo roads; and Potsdam Road between Malibongwe and Sati roads.

"The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested," said Swartbooi.News24 has unconfirmed reports that the victim's vehicle was torched after the shooting. Two buses were gutted in Crossroads near Borcherds Quarry on Monday morning.

Later in the morning, a bus had been set alight on Govan Mbeki Drive and another on Sheffield Road. Dyke-Beyer said there had been no injuries.
