KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah says opposition parties in the state should join it in pressing the Federal Government to immediately give Sabah and Sarawak equal partner status.

said they were ready to work with Parti Bersatu Sabah , Sabah STAR and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah to amend the Federal Constitution to revert to its original status in 1963.

Jo-Anna said she was shocked at the response of Deputy Minister in charge of Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Datuk Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib, who said in Parliament that no decision had been made by the Cabinet to amend the Constitution to this end. She said the previous Pakatan Harapan government's attempt to amend Article 1 of the Constitution under Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad failed to get its two-third vote after some Sabah and Sarawak MPs did not support it.

"We were short of 10 votes because certain MPs from Sabah and also Sarawak did not support it. These people are now part of the federal Perikatan administration," she added.
