He urged for a thorough investigation into the root causes of the issue before it escalates, suggesting that it might be linked to a profitable smuggling operation. The MP highlighted the growing unease among Langkawi residents regarding the presence of undocumented migrants, particularly in Bukit Malut, where settlements are increasingly expanding. He cited recent incidents where 196 Rohingya were apprehended and two boats were intercepted, emphasizing the need for enhanced surveillance. He also pointed out the strategic location of Langkawi's waters close to Thailand, making it an easy entry point for undocumented migrants waiting for favorable conditions to enter.

Saya tidak mahu menuding jari kepada sesiapa tetapi yang penting perkara ini perlu diatasi segera. Baru-baru ini, polis menahan sebanyak 196 etnik Rohingya setelah mereka mendarat di kawasan Pantai Teluk Yu, Langkawi, manakala dua buah lagi bot PATI itu dipintasi agensi penguat kuasa ketika cuba menceroboh masuk ke pada keesokan harinya.

196 Rohingya Detained After Landing in Langkawi196 Rohingya migrants were detained by Malaysian police after landing in Teluk Yu, Langkawi early this morning. Police received a tip-off from the public around 3:25 am about a group of foreign nationals landing in the area. Upon arrival, police confirmed the presence of a large group of Rohingya and a stranded boat on the beach. 31 officers and personnel were deployed to apprehend all the migrants, consisting of 68 men, 57 women, 39 girls, and 32 boys. Authorities believe they departed Myanmar by boat approximately 10 days ago. All were referred to the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Langkawi and taken to the Home Ministry Complex in Langkawi for documentation. Health screenings were also conducted by the Langkawi District Health Office. Marine Police have been deployed to tighten control in Teluk Yu and search for any remaining boats that may have entered the waters.
