KiTA to create wildlife corridors for elephants to reduce conflict with humans

KOTA KINABALU: The Kinabatangan-Corridor of Life Tourism Operators Association Sabah (Kita) is looking into creating passages for wildlife to move about, especially elephants.

These corridors are crucial as they serve as buffer zones for elephants to pass through without disturbing the surrounding community, Kita president Alexander Yee said.

Such conditions often lead to human-animal conflicts and sometimes, injuries on both parties and even deaths of the animals involved. Yee said for the past 10 years since its formation, Kita has organised various programmes like tree plantings, wildlife patrols and training honorary wildlife wardens.
