Inside the busy life of Kerry captain Niamh Carmody from her beginnings in Ladies Football and taking a break to travel the world to training in Brosna while living and working in Cork
She took over the captaincy from Siofra O’Shea following the Kingdom's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final losses to Meath and Dublin in 2022 and 2023. Since returning to the fold in 2019 she has been a regular starter in the forwards. During her career so far she has won Division 1 and Divison 2 Lidl National Football League medals. Day job and life in Cork The all-star works as an automation engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Cork. She is also studying a bachelor of engineering course at ATU Sligo remotely.“It’s about a two-hour drive from Ringaskiddy,” she told the Irish Independent.
“On Wednesdays, you’d be home between 10.30pm and 11.30pm. It’s a long day.
