The Kelantan state government led by PAS is facing criticism for making Halal certification mandatory for food and beverage businesses to renew their licenses. DAP officials Teo Nie Ching and Syahredzan Johan argue that this policy burdens small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and contradicts PAS's 'Pas For All' slogan.
PETALING JAYA: Kerajaan Kelantan diterajui Pas digesa supaya menghormati pilihan pemilik perniagaan makanan dan minuman di negeri itu serta pelanggan mereka termasuk dalam kalangan bukan Islam.
“Mereka patut mengakui bahawa slogan ‘Pas For All’ yang telah mati secara rasmi,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan. Mohd. Asri berkata, setakat Januari hingga Disember tahun ini, sebanyak 453 premis sudah diiktiraf sebagai pemilik SPHM di mana daripada jumlah itu, 198 premis terletak di Kota Bharu dan selebihnya di jajahan seluruh Kelantan.
“Dasar ini secara langsung meminggirkan perniagaan bukan Islam dengan secara terbuka melarang hidangan tradisional seperti Bak Kut Teh, Char Siu dan Siu Yuk dihidangkan di Kota Bharu.
