Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has stated that poverty and unemployment are the main causes of banditry and kidnapping in the North-West region. He believes that the solution lies in implementing good governance. The governor also mentioned the need to address the issue of out-of-school children. The state is receiving $28 million support from Kuwait for this purpose.
Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has said that poverty and unemployment were responsible for the security challenges of banditry and kidnapping bedeviling the North-West region of the country and the best way to tackle the menaces was through entrenchment of good governance .
The governor stated this at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, on Monday, while receiving members of the Kaduna State Elders Forum, who paid him a congratulatory visit over his recent legal victory at the Supreme Court. He said as Kaduna State Government intensifies military actions against banditry and kidnapping with the support of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), which built additional two Forward Operation Bases (FOBs) in the state, his government was also adopting good governance as the best non-kinetic solution to the security challenges.
