Pegawai Daerah Batu Pahat, Nasri Md. Ali berkata, proses mengepam dilakukan bagi mengalirkan air dari tali air yang lebih tinggi ke sistem perparitan lebih rendah untuk melancarkan alirannya.
“Kampung lain yang turut dilakukan pengepaman ialah Kampung Parit Bintang, Parit Jambul dan Sri Menanti, masing-masing menggunakan dua pam. Menurut Nasri, paling banyak penggunaan pam adalah di Parit Jelutong yang memerlukan enam unit berikutan kawasan berkenaan agak terjejas berbanding kawasan lain.
