The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Malaysia has successfully collected RM12.5 million in outstanding summonses through a special compound initiative offering a flat rate of RM150. This initiative, launched in early January, aims to encourage individuals to settle their unpaid traffic fines before stricter enforcement actions are implemented. The offer, valid until June 30th, covers three types of offences and allows for significant savings compared to the original penalty amounts.

TANAH MERAH: The Road Transport Department ( JPJ ) has launched a special compound initiative offering a flat rate of RM150 for settling outstanding summonses since early January. This initiative has already generated RM12.5 million in revenue from 83,000 settled summonses. JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli emphasized the limited-time nature of this offer, urging the public to seize the opportunity.

This special compound offer is valid until June 30th and pertains to three specific types of offences: the Automated Awareness Safety System (Awas - Summons 53A), Notice of Inquiry (114), and Summons Notice (115/JPJ(P)23). Normally, Awas summonses carry a penalty of RM300, but under this initiative, they can be settled for a significantly reduced RM150. Aedy Fadly highlighted that failing to settle outstanding summonses by July 1st will result in stricter enforcement actions. These may include transaction restrictions and blacklisting until the outstanding amount is cleared. Individuals with unpaid summonses will be unable to renew their driving licenses and road tax until the debt is settled. The director-general reassured the public that a grace period is currently in effect, allowing everyone to take advantage of the special compound rate until June 30th. Payment can be made through various convenient channels, including JPJ counters, the JPJ portal, and the myJPJ app. – Bernam
