The Johor Zoo is considering the launch of a night safari due to public interest since its reopening on August 31. The night safari will feature eco-friendly lighting designed to mimic natural nocturnal conditions, minimizing disruption to the animals' habitats. Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi mentioned that the idea emerged from visitor feedback seeking a nighttime safari experience at Malaysia's oldest zoo. The zoo, which houses over 275 animals and spans 12.
5 hectares, has attracted 500,000 visitors since reopening after a four-year closure for renovations. Onn Hafiz expects visitor numbers to reach one million by next year, with projected revenue of RM6 million, ensuring the zoo's self-sustainability
