The Home Ministry in Malaysia welcomes a proposal to implement job rotations for civil servants working at service counters, aiming to improve integrity, efficiency, and work environment. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar suggested the initiative, emphasizing a five-year tenure at service counters is too long. The Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stressed the importance of a people-centred approach to maximize effectiveness and prevent an unconducive work environment.
PUTRAJAYA: Implementing job rotation for service counter civil servants is expected to strengthen integrity, enhance efficiency and cultivate a more conducive work environment .
“The Home Ministry is committed to enhancing the service delivery quality of its agencies,” he told reporters at the Asia International Security Summit and Expo 2025 here yesteday, Bernama reported. On Monday, Shamsul Azri directed the Public Service Department to review and implement job rotations for civil servants who have served at service counters for more than five years.
On a separate issue, Saifuddin Nasution urged organisers of an upcoming assembly in the capital this Saturday to adhere strictly to the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 provisions.“I urge the organisers to revisit the Peaceful Assembly Act and review the responsibilities of participants, assembly organisers and the police,” he said.

Home Detention Order for Najib Not Received by Prisons Department, Says Home MinisterDatuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the Malaysian Home Minister, clarified that the Prisons Department never received any instruction pertaining to a home detention order for former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
