A Malaysian job scam victim, Xiao Fei, was allowed to return home before Chinese New Year after being trapped in Cambodia by a syndicate. Xiao Fei, who couldn't use a computer, was deemed useless to the syndicate and was essentially 'banished' to a hostel. Despite his confinement, he managed to contact his friend, who alerted authorities and the Malaysian Humanitarian Organization (MHO). MHO helped facilitate Xiao Fei's return. This story serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of job scams and the importance of being cautious about promises of high-paying jobs overseas.

3 more Malaysians made it back home before Chinese New Year from the grip of a job scam syndicate in Cambodia, and the Malaysian Humanitarian Organization team was at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport for their homecoming.

Mr. Hu said that Xiao Fei, a single father flew to Cambodia to apply for a job as a private driver on November 4, 2024. Xiao Fei only noticed that something was off when he reached the hostel of the syndicate. To avoid trouble, the syndicate returned his passport and allowed him to go back. In a way, Xiao Fei’s lack of knowledge in using computers has proven to be a blessing in disguise.
