The Jigawa State Police Command arrested about 298 suspects for various criminal activities in the third quarter of 2023. A statement issued on Wednesday by DSP Lawan Shiisu, spokesman of the Command, explained that the Police recovered firearms and 64 rustled animals during the period.
The Command equally rescued six kidnap victims in special operations conducted within the period under review. 'The suspects were apprehended for alleged robbery, kidnapping, murder, rape, vandalism, animal rustling, and fraud, among others,' the Police spokesman said.
Arms recovered by the Police include one AK-47 rifle, one Beretta pistol, three locally-made guns, 48 live ammunition, 20 motor vehicles/motorcycles, and 64 rustled animals. The spokesman stated that other items recovered include 560 parcels of Cannabis Sativa and a number of narcotic substances.
