Japan and South Korea scramble fighter jets after two Russian bombers join two Chinese bombers flying over the Sea of Japan as far as the East China Sea.

abc.net.au/news/russian-chinese-bombers-joint-patrol-asia-pacific-japan-korea/102454350Japan has expressed "serious concerns" after Chinese and Russian long-range strategic bombers conducted joint patrols over the Sea of Japan as far as the East China Sea and western Pacific Ocean.

Japan's military said it had verified two Russian bombers had joined two Chinese bombers over the Sea of Japan and flown together as far as the East China Sea. "During the joint air patrol, Russian aircraft landed and took off from an airfield in the People's Republic of China."China's defence ministry said the patrol was part of the two militaries' annual cooperation plan.

"Such repeated joint flights by the strategic bombers of the two countries in the vicinity of our country signify the expansion of activities in the vicinity of our country, and are clearly intended to act arbitrarily against our country," Mr Matsuno, the government's top spokesperson, said.
