Malaysian filmmaker James Wan, known for directing horror films like The Conjuring and Insidious, is set to executive produce a TV adaptation of the driving-survival game Pacific Drive. Developed by Ironwood Studios and released on Steam in 2023, Pacific Drive tasks players with surviving in a fictional abandoned version of the Olympic Peninsula by traversing its eerie landscapes in a station wagon, scavenging for resources, and avoiding environmental threats called 'anomalies'.

What is Pacific Drive and how do you play it? Created by independent game developer Ironwood Studios and released on 22 February on video game platform Steam this year, Pacific Drive puts players in the Olympic Exclusion Zone, a fictionalized abandoned version of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, USA.
As you can probably already tell, much of the game revolves around the station wagon you’ll be driving around. The game is titled ‘Pacific Drive’ after all, not ‘Pacific Walk’. “In the game, your’re just a mute driver and the station wagon is the star of the show. There are characters who guide you through the world via radio, but it’s mostly just you and the car, and the car has far more personality than you do,” he wrote.
