The J7 PHEV employs a fifth-generation hybrid-specific version of the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the, generating 143 PS and 215 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a 204 PS/310 Nm electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), resulting in a total system output of 347 PS and 525 Nm. These figures surpass the petrol J7's 197 PS and 290 Nm, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds – seven tenths of a second quicker than the regular J7 AWD. With a relatively large 60-liter fuel tank, Jaecoo claims an overall range of 1,200 km on a single tank and battery charge, exceeding 1,300 km. During a recent test drive, the group achieved 125.2 km on electric power alone. Distinctive visual modifications that differentiate the PHEV variant from the Land Rover-inspired J7 include new aero-design 19-inch alloy wheels (similar to the’s but with different covers), sleeker door mirrors, a chequered flag motif on the door trim strips, and the omission of the petrol model’s fake tailpipes
