To recap its brand positioning – in Malaysia, Jaecoo is positioned as a premium SUV brand, and the Omoda C9 is the most premium product from the Chery group so far in Malaysia, so this is being sold by Jaecoo Malaysia. Measuring 4,775 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,671 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, the C9 SUV has luggage capacity from 660 litres with its rear seats in place, expanding to 1,783 litres with the seats folded. Its size places it in the ballpark of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and the Mercedes-Benz GLC, as well as the Toyota Harrier that is possibly its closest competitor.Two drivetrain variants for the C9 are on offer – 2WD and AWD, both featuring the 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine that outputs 261 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the wheels through an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Key visual identifiers for the C9 include the diamond-matrix front air intake grille, along with its ‘Sigma’ daytime running lights (DRL) signature. Headlamps are adaptive LED units, accompanied by LED tail lamps, with an auto-sensing function for the tailgate. Underneath, the C9 chassis gets MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link setup at the rear, supplemented by the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension on the AWD which is a stand-out feature for the SUV segment in this price bracket.
