Malaysians will be able to pre-order the iPhone 16e starting tomorrow, Friday, February 21st, 2025, at 9 PM. The official release date is set for the following Friday, February 28th, 2025. This latest iPhone iteration comes in two colors – Black and White. For added peace of mind, users can opt for Apple Care+, which provides comprehensive protection for two years.
The iPhone 16e shares a striking resemblance to the iPhone 14, but it distinguishes itself with a single rear camera and the replacement of the traditional silent switch with an Action Button. Though its dimensions mirror the iPhone 14, the iPhone 16e boasts a slightly lighter weight at 167g. It features an aluminum design, reinforced with a ceramic shield for the front and a glass back. On the front, a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display takes center stage, utilizing a 60Hz OLED panel that delivers a 2532×1170 pixel resolution. This display reaches a maximum brightness of 800 nits and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits for HDR content. Similar to the iPhone 14, it retains the classic notch instead of the newer Dynamic Island design.Underneath its sleek exterior, the iPhone 16e is powered by the Apple A18 chip, the same powerhouse found in the current iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. As expected from a brand-new iPhone, the iPhone 16e seamlessly integrates with Apple Intelligence. In the camera department, the iPhone 16e retains a single 48MP f/1.6 Fusion camera equipped with optical image stabilization. It also allows for 12MP 2x Telephoto shots through sensor cropping. The rear camera is packed with flagship features, including Photonic Engine, Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 5, Portrait Mode with Depth Control, Night mode, Wind noise reduction, Spatial Audio, and stereo recording. The main camera can capture 4K Dolby Vision video at up to 60fps, slow-motion video at 1080p at 240fps, and night mode with time-lapse. However, it lacks action and cinematic modes. For selfies, the iPhone 16e features a 12MP f/1.9 TrueDepth camera that also supports Smart HDR 5, Night mode, and 4K Dolby Vision video recording. Connectivity-wise, the iPhone 16e supports 5G (sub-6GHz), WiFi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. However, Ultra Wideband (UWB) is not supported. Notably, the iPhone 16e uses Apple's new in-house designed C1 5G modem, which is claimed to be the most power-efficient modem available. The device retains features like stereo speakers and is rated for IP68 dust and water resistance. Despite being the budget iPhone, the iPhone 16e offers impressive battery life, with up to 26 hours of video playback. This surpasses the iPhone 16's 22 hours and the larger iPhone 16 Plus' 27 hours. The iPhone 16e charges via USB-C and can reach up to 50% charge in 30 minutes with a 20W power adapter (sold separately). It also supports Qi wireless charging up to 7.5W but lacks MagSafe support.
