PUTRAJAYA: The Independent Police Complaints Misconduct Commission looks set to be a reality, following positive discussions between the police and the National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corrupt

GIACC director-general Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed chaired a meeting with more than 20 police representatives, including Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador, to listen to and address concerns regarding the establishment of the commission."To sum it up, the discussion has been very positive.

He added that the setting up of the IPCMC would ensure that integrity would always be upheld and prioritised. Abu Kassim said another technical meeting would be held in a week's time to finalise the Cabinet paper, before it can be presented to Cabinet. "Perhaps in two weeks or after Hari Raya, we can present the paper to the Cabinet for approval. We are positive the IPCMC could be set up by this year," he said.Recently-retired Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun recently said the police were against the move to set up the IPCMC.
