“After the clean-up is done, MBPJ will ensure that any new plants growing in the lakes are removed quickly to prevent a repeat incident,” said Petaling Jaya mayor Mohamad Azhan.

He added that the lakes would be cleared by the end of this week.It was reported that the lakes resembled a field from a distance and some residents feared that outsiders unfamiliar with the area might unknowingly walk into the lake.

“One of the lakes is near a business centre, so we sought cooperation from businesses there to keep a lookout for new growth and alert MBPJ fast. The plants have to be removed completely. MBPJ has stationed enforcement officers to patrol the park to ensure public safety until the lakes are cleaned.
