Many protestors are holding signs and wearing t-shirts saying "always was, always will be Aboriginal land". Some Indigenous protesters are calling for a "no" vote on the Voice referendum, demanding that Indigenous sovereignty not be granted by a vote from a mostly non-Indigenous population.Melbourne protests and speeches at Parliament House on Australia Day."They want to put the colonial constitution on top of the oldest constitution on the planet. Our constitution comes from the soil," she said.
Despite the protests, polling suggests the majority of Australians believe we should have Australia Day on January 26.
