The experiential rooms were themed “Harm Reduction”, “Nicotine and Burning”, “Tar” and “Smoke Machine”, and included product displays.

Philip Morris Malaysia corporate communications head Veronica Choo said harm reduction was not uncommon.The event consisted of a series of programmes, including a presentation by UK-based consultant oncologist Dr Peter Harper.

Media members also participated in an interactive room experience and a panel discussion with industry players and health experts. The panel moderated by veteran journalist Kamarul Bahrin Haron comprised Malaysia Society of Harm Reduction president Prof Dr Sharifa Ezat Wan Puteh, Malaysian Organisation of Vape Entity president Samsul Kamal Ariffin, and Policy and Economic Affairs Centre of Malaysia Foundation chief executive officer Dr Zokhri Idris.

In the Tar room, it was explained that tar is an acronym – Total Aerosol Residue – and is the measurement of residue containing smoke, water and nicotine that is generated after tobacco is burnt.
