Incumbent Gary Eichelberger and endorsed Republicans are lapping the field when it comes to campaign resources, We'll learn next week how much that mattered.
this spring, but the field has been pretty clearly cleaved into two divisions: those with big campaign budgets, and those without.
Eichelberger’s two committees - Republican Principles for Cumberland and The Eichelberger Committee - report a combined $215,371 in total receipts through the May 1 cut-off for the pre-primary filing, with more than $137,000 on hand for stretch-run spending.Neiderer and Silcox’s “Kelly and Nate for Cumberland” committee has been the top fundraiser in this campaign cycle, however.
To show you how big the gulf is, going into the last weekend, no one else in the field has cracked the $20,000 mark in total fundraising.South Middleton Township neighbors and running mates Bryan Gembusia and Troy Ingram have seen a late surge of $10,100 in May donations, but even that last-minute infusion left them with less than $15,000 for the stretch run.
Cindi Ward’s committee is reporting a cash balance of just $227. Ward, however, as Eichelberger’s running mate, may get a lift from her appearance on much of his literature.
