The discovery prompted the opening of an investigation under relevant criminal and electricity supply laws.
An explosion and smoke emanating from a house in Lorong Cekara Purnama, Bandar Puncak Ala, near here, resulted in the discovery of an illegal mining operation yesterday. Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor stated that 14 volunteer firefighters from Saujana Utama and Bestari Jaya were dispatched to the fire scene following a distress call from a local woman to the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters at 11.41 am.

During their inspection, they uncovered evidence of illegal electricity connections used for bitcoin mining. The investigation led to the seizure of nine bitcoin mining rigs, nine blower fans, and a D-link router. \Supt Mohd Hafiz said in a statement today that an investigation paper has been opened under Section 427 of the Penal Code and Section 37(1) of the Electricity Supply Act 1990. He urged anyone with information about the case to contact the nearest police station or assistant investigating officer Mohamad Nurizwan Hafiz Abd Halim at 017-2494940
