Inside the space of a week, Matthew Kuhnemann may go from playing a Sheffield Shield match in front of a handful of spectators to making his Test debut for Australia in front of a parochial Indian crowd.
It has been suggested in the Australian media left-handed Kuhnemann could leapfrog Ashton Agar in the pecking orderNathan Lyon and Todd Murphy — who took seven wickets on debut ion Nagpur — are certainties to be named in the Australia XI.
"I'm sort of just going over there with an open mind and if it happens, it happens and I'll go from there," he told ABC Sport. "I was just putting my spikes on to head out to warm-up for day three of our Shield game," Kuhnemann said.The 26-year-old admitted it was difficult to stay focused on the Shield match, which Victoria won by 164 runs.While yet to appear in a Test, Kuhnemann does have international experience playing for Australia in Asia.
