Lim Kit Siang had asked Tok Mat to bet on Mahathir keeping to his succession plan and handing over power to Anwar.
PETALING JAYA: Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan has brushed off veteran politician Lim Kit Siang’s challenge to bet on Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s succession plan.
Lim, in a statement today, said he will retire from politics if the succession plan fails and that Tok Mat should do the same if Mahathir keeps his word to pass the prime minister’s post to Anwar.In an immediate response, Tok Mat told FMT he is a Muslim and does not bet.During his ceramah in Sandakan, Tok Mat said he knows Mahathir’s character and that the latter is unlikely to relinquish the post to Anwar.
“What I said is my prediction and my understanding. He can have his own prediction and understanding. It is up to him,” he said. “Now, they are hoping that Pakatan Harapan will crumble and disintegrate with Mahathir refusing to pass the prime minister’s post to Anwar,” Lim added in his statement.
