Hyundai has started manufacturing electric vehicles (EVs) and batteries in Thailand, leading to price reductions for the Ioniq 5. Local assembly, scheduled for 2026, allows for price cuts on the EV. The range-topping Exclusive model now starts at 1,829,000 baht (RM232,900), while the base Premium remains at 1,699,000 baht (RM216,300). Thailand misses out on the all-wheel-drive Max model, but the Exclusive model boasts a powerful rear motor and a long driving range.
Hyundai has begun assembling electric vehicles and associated batteries in Thailand. The company has received an investment promotion certificate, allowing them to reduce the prices of the Ioniq 5. The range-topping Exclusive model now retails at 1,829,000 baht (RM232,900), down from 1,899,000 baht (RM241,700). Local assembly at the new Samut Prakan plant is scheduled for 2026. The Exclusive comes with a powerful rear motor producing 217 PS (160 kW) and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 72.
6 kWh battery for a WLTP-rated range of 481 km. Thailand doesn't offer the all-wheel-drive Max model, which has 305 PS (225 kW), 605 Nm, and a range of 430 km. The Premium model in Thailand is comparable to Malaysia's Lite, with a lower power output of 170 PS (125 kW) and a 58 kWh battery offering a range of 384 km. The incentives are part of Thailand’s EV 3.5 project, for which Hyundai committed to invest 1 billion baht (RM127 million) in local EV and battery assembly and source at least a third of its required raw materials and parts from Thailand.
