Hundreds of workers, most of them in Brisbane, could soon be made redundant because of Queensland project delays and executive-level blunders.

Hundreds of Inland Rail workers, most of them in Brisbane, could lose their jobs soon as the government-owned organisation building the project downsizes following a damning report exposing mistakes, delays and cost blowouts.Infrastructure Minister Catherine King and Dr Kerry Schott speaking in April after the latter’s investigation into Inland Rail found it was mired in cost overruns and delays.

“We understand there is strong interest from all stakeholders to understand the Inland Rail Review Recommendations in more detail, and we will be providing more information when it becomes available,” a spokesman said. What happened beyond that, or when, remained a mystery because the Queensland side of the planning was bogged down with environmental, technical and cost challenges.
