Billy Slater's Maroons have been dealt a blow on the eve of the 2023 State of Origin series.
abc.net.au/news/josh-papalii-retires-from-state-of-origin/102362648Queensland rugby league stalwart Josh Papali'i has dropped a bombshell on the Maroons, with the veteran prop announcing his retirement from State of Origin football.
"I've loved every minute of my time playing for Queensland and representing the State and I have memories from my time in maroon I will never forget," Papali'i said. Papali'i played in six winning series for the Maroons, including Slater's maiden triumph as coach last year, and retires as one of the state's most-capped forwards.
