Even Hollywood stars struggle with mental health. 17-year-old Layla Crawford, who currently stars alongside Will Smith in 'King Richard,' the story of the Venus and Serena Willams family, has coped with anxiety for most of her life. She shares her most valuable lessons and tools for success.

I used to hate working out. But then I noticed that when I worked out, I felt less stressed. I know it is easier said than done, but when you work out, your body and mind will thank you.Take time to record your emotions. Then you can go back and see your progress, or how things you used to worry about are working out. You can write in a notebook or make videos for your future self. Learning about yourself will really help you cope with your anxiety.

“There are many challenges that come with being a young actress, but the greatest would have to be the rejection you face,” says Crawford. “We go to a lot of auditions and will hear ‘no’ many times before we finally get a ‘yes.’ There is so much competition. We must overcome many obstacles to reach success. I applaud all actors for their perseverance.”

But Crawford feels it is all worthwhile, as she loves making a difference and particularly playing roles that inspire people to live their best lives. “I am proud that I can be a poised and elegant example of what a woman can be,” Crawford says. “I am proud of the impact that I have made so far on many young women.”

Crawford thinks the idea of tapping into your life’s purpose can be heavy for many people. She doesn’t feel you should put that kind of pressure on yourself. Instead, recognize your interests and things you feel passionate about, and learn from them. “Navigate with your heart and get creative,” Crawford advises. “Sometimes your purpose will naturally come to you, or it might arrive through trial and error. But either way, you will win in the end. Don’t give up when you run into walls.
