Rain or shine, practice must go on, with Putrajaya Holdings.
The inaugural race organised by Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd specially caters to the corporate sector. The decision to hold the race as an event on its own — separate from the annual Pesta Air Putrajaya — was made after the organisers received overwhelming response from corporate participants.
“The race distance is slightly reduced from the usual 500m to 350m for a more interesting competition and exciting finish between the beginners and the stronger teams, ” he said. AirAsia has entered two teams for the race, who are calling themselves Rockin’ All Stars. Their captain Mohd Razis Abdul Rahim, 33, said his teammates were all pumped for the upcoming race.
“Besides training at the lake, we also encourage our teammates to work out on the rowing machines at the gym to increase muscle strength and endurance, ” added Mohd Razis.Team coordinator Mohd Hamir Shaharuddin, 36, said the rowers had been training hard as they aimed to place in the top three. There will also be four teams participating from RHB Banking Group. These first-timers call themselves Dragonslayers. Their spokesperson assistant manager Nur Akmal Kamarunzaman, said one team was registered for Open, two for Mixed and another for the Women’s category.
“We had been training frequently over the past few months to prepare for the Standard Chartered Games 2019 in Singapore in August. It was a good experience. Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd sports and recreational club president Aniza Anwar said that apart from teamwork, the training also taught them discipline and respect.“Any employee who is fit and can commit to the training schedule is welcome to join.
