The charges against Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman and at least 40 others read like a Hollywood screenplay: celebrities, CEOs, college admissions and allegations of cheating and bribery
According to the unsealed court documents, the allegation include, among others:bribing coaches and administrators to designate applicants as recruited athletes to gain admission to colleges and universities;having third parties take classes and exams in place of their children and submitting the earned grade as part of the students' college applications;
According to the unsealed indictments, Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly"agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team -- despite the fact that they did not participate in crew -- thereby facilitating their admission to USC."
In some cases, Singer allegedly had a third party take, or change answers to, the SAT or ACT exams for students, or Singer would conspire with athletic coaches to fake athletic credentials for non-athletic recruits to help them gain admission to college. Singer has pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy, money laundering, tax conspiracy and obstruction of justice. He faces up to 65 years in jail and a $1.25 million fine.
