The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicts heavy and continuous rainfall across most regions in Sabah and Sarawak throughout the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday. Beginning on Monday, January 27th, Sarawak anticipates a persistent downpour lasting until Thursday, January 30th. Affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu, and Miri (Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi).

Meanwhile, Sabah's continuous rainy spell is expected to commence on Monday and continue until Wednesday, January 29th. Residents in the west coast regions of Ranau and Kota Belud, Tawau (Lahad Datu), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan), and Kudat should prepare for the prolonged period of rain.
