The free parking coincides with Christmas and the city's New Year's Eve celebration, which will take place downtown.
Anyone visiting Harrisburg over the Christmas holiday will get free parking thanks to Park Harrisburg and Mayor Wanda Williams’ administration, the city announced Wednesday.
Meter enforcement will resume on Tuesday, Dec. 27, between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., the city said. If someone does feed the meters during that time period, there will be no refunds issued. After 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, free on-street parking will be offered in designated areas for people coming to the 2023 New Year’s Even and Countdown to Kid-Night celebrations, the city said.People who would like to park in the Market Square Garage can park for a $10 rate from 5 p.m. Dec. 31 to 5 a.m. Jan. 1, the city said. The garage will take cash only for the day.The city’s New Year’s Eve celebration on Dec. 31 will be at the Martin Luther King Jr. City Government Center beginning at 9 p.m.
