Harrisburg schools and the union representing the district’s support staff have come to a tentative agreement on a new contact, although the district said Tuesday that the fine details are still under legal review and have not yet been released. However, union leadership said Tuesday that members narrowly agreed to give up their pay proration benefits – which both sides had said was a major sticking point last month – in order to get a deal done.
Meeting minutes approved by the school board Tuesday night indicated that Harrisburg School District’s court-appointed receiver, Dr. Lori Suski, had called a meeting on the morning of Aug. 27 to notify the board that she was giving the go-ahead on the new contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees , which represents much of the district’s hourly support staff.
