Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) officially replaces Sojitz G Auto Philippines as the distributor, promising improved customer service and market responsiveness.
Geely has announced a significant shift in its Philippine operations by establishing Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) as a direct subsidiary. This move follows the expiration of the five-year contract held by Japan's Sojitz G Auto Philippines as the distributor in 2024. GMP, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Geely , will officially assume full responsibility for all business operations related to the brand in the Philippines.
The company assures customers that it will honor all existing warranties and promotions from the previous distributor. The new subsidiary is slated for an official launch in the first quarter of 2024. Geely highlights several advantages associated with this direct operational control. These include closer alignment with local market demands and expectations, faster decision-making processes, more agile and efficient operations, enhanced customer engagement, superior service, and more effective business strategies. This structure is expected to facilitate better adaptation to local policies and market conditions. While Geely was once the most popular Chinese car brand in the Philippines, the company faced a series of after-sales issues in 2023 that significantly impacted its reputation. The flagship North EDSA dealership was forced to close its doors in late July 2024, a stark reminder of the challenges Geely encountered. The establishment of GMP signifies Geely's commitment to regaining its market position and addressing the concerns raised by previous customer experiences. The company aims to leverage its direct control to improve service, enhance customer satisfaction, and regain the trust of Filipino consumers
