KUALA LUMPUR: Simulations for the floods and the coming 15th General Election (GE15) have been conducted to better prepare the police and relevant agencies.
In a press conference Wednesday at Bukit Aman, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that 21,018 policemen and 4,367 Rela personnel have been assigned as part of preparations for the floods.
“The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency has also been tasked with providing assistance to islands, especially in sending supplies and essentials, and to also conduct air evacuations,” he said. Entry and exit points, he noted, were important and that the authorities would identify suitable points to evacuate victims.
“Those have all been done . The police are a team that is ready for any situation,” he said, adding that the simulations were conducted in five zones across all states.
