Gadsden city officials today said a planned reactor assembly plant to be built in the Northeast Alabama city will bring a $100 million economic impact and could usher in a new era of development and growth.Seattle-based Ultra Safe Nuclear Corp.
City and company officials stressed that the plant, which will manufacture about 10 non-radiological modules a year, will neither store or use radioactive material at the plant. “It’s transportable to anywhere in the world,” Hooks said. “If you think about building a facility, it may take months or years depending on the terrain. This is something that can be put in place within a six month period. It’s a reactor, but it’s not the fuel.”
