A fruit vendor in Felda Pasir Besar, Gemas, suffered a devastating loss when his shop was completely destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon. The fire also consumed his entire stock of fresh fruits, along with a refrigerator and three motorcycles, resulting in an estimated RM40,000 in damages.
A fruit vendor suffered significant losses after his shop was destroyed in a fire at Felda Pasir Besar, Gemas , yesterday afternoon. The vendor, Hussin Abd. Aziz, 54, said that his stock of various fruits, including newly purchased ones from Chow Kit worth RM10,000, were also lost in the fire. He explained that the fire broke out rapidly while he was waiting to go to the mosque for Friday prayers. Suddenly, a plug fuse fell, followed by billowing smoke.
\Hussin stated that seven other individuals were in the shop at the time, including his wife, three children, a nephew, and a worker. They managed to evacuate quickly and were unable to salvage any of the fruits on sale. He himself was able to save a lorry and a car. In addition to the merchandise, a refrigerator and three motorcycles were also destroyed in the fire, bringing the estimated total loss to over RM40,000. \Meanwhile, Gemas Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Director of Fire and Rescue, Mohd. Razeaf Zamri, said that his department received a report of the fire around 12.55 pm yesterday. A team of firefighters, including those from Bahau and Gemencheh, immediately rushed to the scene. According to him, the fire involved a single residential house measuring 20x60 feet with an estimated 40 percent damage and a homestay unit measuring 40x80 feet with an estimated 90 percent damage. In addition, a fruit stall measuring 15x100 feet was completely destroyed, along with three motorcycles, including a three-wheeled motorcycle. The fire was successfully contained at 1.20 pm, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident
