A total of ten individuals, including four Thai and six Myanmar nationals, were detained during a raid at a makeshift shelter in Kubang Pasu, Malaysia. The suspects were allegedly involved in human trafficking and illegal immigration.

Four Thai nationals and six Myanmar nationals were detained during a raid at a makeshift shelter near a rubber plantation off Jalan Belakang UUM, Bukit Tangga, close to Kubang Pasu last night. Superintendent Mohd Redzuan Salleh of Kubang Pasu District Police said the Thai nationals involved are believed to be acting as human traffickers, while the six Myanmar nationals, consisting of three men and three women, are suspected of being illegal immigrants.

A police team from the Bukit Kayu Hitam Police Station, tasked with preventing human trafficking, visited the shelter at around 10:50 AM. After monitoring for nearly ten minutes, they observed three men and three women believed to be foreign immigrants sitting in the shelter, with four additional men who were guarding the area present nearby. All detainees are reported to be between 21 and 40 years old and do not possess valid travel documents. According to Mohd Redzuan, the Thai nationals were offered a fee of RM65 by another Myanmar national for every foreigner brought from Kampung Sadao, Thailand, to the Bukit Kayu Hitam border. The case is being investigated under Sections 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63
