The discovery of foreign boats used by hundreds of Rohingya refugees to enter Malaysia on the shores of Langkawi has raised concerns. This latest landing signifies their successful evasion of Malaysian authorities at sea. Although apprehended, there's a possibility some escaped. Following the incident, Malaysian authorities increased patrols, successfully expelling two refugee boats from Langkawi waters. The emergence of these boats may be linked to the anticipated arrival of 100,000 Rohingya refugees.

196 Rohingya Detained After Landing in Langkawi196 Rohingya migrants were detained by Malaysian police after landing in Teluk Yu, Langkawi early this morning. Police received a tip-off from the public around 3:25 am about a group of foreign nationals landing in the area. Upon arrival, police confirmed the presence of a large group of Rohingya and a stranded boat on the beach. 31 officers and personnel were deployed to apprehend all the migrants, consisting of 68 men, 57 women, 39 girls, and 32 boys. Authorities believe they departed Myanmar by boat approximately 10 days ago. All were referred to the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Langkawi and taken to the Home Ministry Complex in Langkawi for documentation. Health screenings were also conducted by the Langkawi District Health Office. Marine Police have been deployed to tighten control in Teluk Yu and search for any remaining boats that may have entered the waters.
