KUALA LUMPUR: The fall in shares of banking heavyweights weighed heavily on Bursa Malaysia, causing the index to slip below the crucial 1,600 mark.
PUTRAJAYA: The floods currently affecting Kelantan and Terengganu are expected to be worse than the disaster that hit in 2014, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi .
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the National Disaster Management Committee chairman, said 82,794 personnel have been deployed to flood-prone states, especially in the East Coast. "Given the severity of the situation, all parties have been mobilised to ensure the safety and welfare of flood victims," he said.
Ahmad Zahid also called on all government agencies and departments to postpone any meetings or courses in Kelantan and Terengganu, which are currently hit by floods. "At present, Kelantan is worst affected , and the hardest-hit districts are Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah. cooperation between all parties is absolutely necessary," he said.
