JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor has seen an increase of more than 2,000 people in just four hours.

The Johor Disaster Management Committee said as of 4pm on Saturday , the number of flood victims in the nine affected districts was 39,476, up from 37,258 at noon.

"At the moment, there are a total of 247 relief centres operating, providing shelter to 11,463 victims," it said in a statement here on Saturday. "This was followed by Batu Pahat with 9,385 evacuees, Kluang , Muar , Kota Tinggi , Tangkak , Mersing , Johor Baru and Pontian ," it said.
