YONG PENG: With the flood situation worsening in Johor, residents have been reminded to take a few crucial steps to ensure their own safety.
Johor health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said flood victims should pack their belongings and valuables such as important documents before leaving their homes for the evacuation centre.
"They should also remember to bring along their medicine, the related medical equipment and some snacks before moving to a safer place," he said on Thursday . Ling, who was also Yong Peng assemblyman, urged residents in the area to remain alert as floodwaters had also risen in Taman Selatan."In the event that the centre is full, those on duty at the site will refer the evacuees to the next available relief centre," he added.
As of 4pm on Thursday , Johor recorded 28,099 flood victims seeking shelter at 197 temporary relief centres.
