JOHOR BARU: Mosques in Johor can now be used as temporary relief centres to shelter flood victims, says state Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid.

He added that main mosques at flood-hit areas were now opened as relief centres with guidelines in place to continue maintaining their sanctity.

"This is part of the state government’s contingency plan to accommodate the high increase in the number of those affected by floods. "Mosques may also be used to help prepare food for distribution to nearby relief centres," he said here on Friday . Mohd Fared added that mosques throughout Johor would be holding special prayers after Friday prayers to seek protection from Allah for the well-being of the people and state.
